Welcome to the Competitions and Prizes for Radio Competitions T’s and C’s. The following has been created to give every radio listener a fair chance at winning, as well as to abide by South Africa’s Lotteries Rules and Regulations Act. This promotional competition is conducted in accordance with section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the applicable promotional competition regulations. These rules apply when Ultimate Media is the proxy on behalf of the participating Radio Station and/or client for prize management purposes.
1. Definitions:
Unless the context provides otherwise, the words and expressions set out below will have the following meanings, and cognate expressions shall have corresponding meanings:
1.1. “Competition” means any promotion, prize draw, giveaway or competition operated by Ultimate Media, including but not limited to those Competitions operated by Ultimate Media on behalf of the promoter or any Radio Station. 1.2. “Promotion” means the NANDO’S TAAAASTE-MONIALS CHALLENGE starting on 00:00 on 13 MAY 2026 and ending at 23:59 on 22 MAY 2026, organised by the Promoter and open to all people residing in South Africa. 1.3. “Participant” means a person who enters the Promotion.
1.4. The Promoter is Chickenland Proprietary Limited (registration number 1987/004022/07) t/a Nando’s situated at 10A Victoria Road, Lorentzville, Johannesburg,
1.5. “Participating Radio Station refers to METRO FM and means any radio station in the Republic of South Africa which is approved by the Promoter to participate in the Promotion.
1.6. Anyone who, within a period of [183 (one hundred and eighty-three)] days preceding this competition, has won any competition organised, promoted, or conducted by Nando’s, or who resides at the same address as such a winner, or who uses the same telephone number to enter this competition.
1.7. To enter for a chance to win, a participant must be 18 (eighteen) years old at the date of entry. 1.8. By entering this competition, you agree to comply with and abide by the terms and conditions of this promotion.
1.9. “Prize or Prizes” means: R2500 or R5000
1.10. “Personal Information” means personal information as defined in POPIA;
1.11. “POPIA” means the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013;
1.12. “Process”/ “Processing” has the same meaning assigned thereto in POPIA;
1.13. “Rules” means these terms and conditions, including specific terms and conditions; rules or entry instructions published on the Ultimate Media terms & conditions page (radiocompetitiontandc.co.za) or in any media platform, which features a competition (e.g. on-air messages).
2. Application of Terms and Conditions
2.1. By choosing to enter the Promotion, the Participant agrees to be bound by the following terms and conditions, which the Participant acknowledges to have read and understood.
2.2. By entering this competition, the Participants agree to comply with both the Promoter’s and the participating Radio Station’s Terms and Conditions.
3. HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETITION
3.1. To be eligible for Participation in this Promotion, the Participant must:
3.1.1. Be a South African citizen or permanent resident over the age of 18 (eighteen) years old.
3.2. Successfully enter the Promotion in accordance with the entry mechanism defined by METRO FM (participating Radio Station) via on-air communication, and social media, including WhatsApp.
3.2.1. Adhere to the terms and conditions that apply to this Competition.
3.3. Participants may only enter this Promotion in the Republic of South Africa.
WhatsApp Entry.
3.3.1.1. To enter THE NANDO’S TAAAASTE-MONIALS CHALLENGE, listeners need to send the word “NANDO’S” via WhatsApp to 066 050 6830.
3.3.1.2. Complete the branded WhatsApp Journey.
3.3.1.3. Finalists will be selected by random draw of entries received on the UM WhatsApp line. 3.3.1.4. From the list of finalists, a lucky listener will be invited to join the show live on-air telephonically, where they will be presented with THE NANDO’S TAAAASTE-MONIALS CHALLENGE;
3.3.1.5. The listener will be presented with two questions, centred around completing a review of a Nando’s meal;
- Question 1: will be referenced to a Customer Review
- Question 2: will be referenced to a Presenter Review
3.3.1.6. Each question is worth R2500
3.3.1.7. If the listener gets both correct, they will walk away with R5000 in total.
3.3.1.8. Standard data rates will apply. Free minutes do not apply.
3.4. Entrants may only enter the promotion a maximum of 3 times per day and 168 times over the Promotion Period. An entry is based on the info submitted each time when entering through the WhatsApp journey. 3.5. Metro FM and the Chickenland Proprietary Limited will not be held responsible for any data charges, phone costs, or any other costs incurred while participating in this competition. No entry fee is required to participate in this competition.
3.6. In cases where participants use multiple phone numbers or social media accounts to enter a competition, only one entry will be deemed valid.
3.7. If a finalist cannot be reached for screening by the participating METRO FM and or Ultimate Media prior to or during the on‑air competition segment or winner announcement, another participant will be randomly selected to take their place.
3.8. Finalists are required to keep their phones accessible before and during the on‑air competition segment or winner announcement. If MERTO FM does not make contact, this confirms that the participant was not selected as the winner.
3.9. No entries submitted on behalf of a third party will be accepted.
3.10.Only entries received within the Promotion Period will be considered.
4. Prizes and Award Terms
4.1 Winners will be contacted by Ultimate Media/ Metro FM electronically or telephonically (using the contact details provided to us) within 2-weeks of the radio competition taking place.
4.2 Winners are only finalised once their names are announced on air.
4.3 Any prize not taken up for any reason within (90) ninety days of notification will be forfeited. 4.4 Prize fulfilment is expected to be within ninety (90) days.
4.5 Winners will be notified should any unforeseen delays occur in the payment/delivery process. 4.6 Winners will be required to supply proof of bank account, which could be a certified copy of the official bank confirmation letter / verified bank statement – no older than 3 months. AND / OR physical address in writing, via SMS, WhatsApp, or email.
4.7 Proof of identity: ID/Passport copy/photo.
4.8 Should a winner submit incorrect banking or physical address details, they will bear full responsibility for any resulting loss of the prize.
4.9 Should winners refuse to submit the required documentation according to the competition T’s and C’s, they will forfeit their prize.
4.10 THE PRIZE IS NON-TRANSFERABLE AND MAY NOT BE EXCHANGED FOR CASH. The winner has to claim their prize within 48 (forty eight) hours of being contacted (or Nando’s attempt to contact them) and failure to claim the prize or a refusal or inability to comply herewith / refuse or be unable to comply with this rule for any reason, such winner will be deemed to have rejected the prize and a new winner may be drawn in their place.
4.11 Except in so far as is provided for in the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
5. Use of Personal Information
5.1 Personal information is information relating to a Participant. Personal information includes a Participant’s identity number, passport number and contact details.
5.2 By entering this Competition, a Participant agrees that the Promoter, participating Radio Station and Ultimate Media may use his/her personal information in connection with the Competition.
5.3 By entering this competition, you voluntarily provide your personal information to Ultimate Media.
5.4 Ultimate Media will process your personal information solely for the purposes of:
- Administering and managing the competition.
- Verifying eligibility;
- Contacting winners;
- Awarding and delivering prizes;
- Complying with legal and regulatory obligations.
5.5 Your personal information will not be used for any purpose other than those stated above. Information may be shared with authorised third-party operators (e.g., prize sponsors or courier providers) strictly for competition related purposes and subject to appropriate security safeguards.
5.6 Your personal information will be retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil these purposes or as required by law.
5.7 Participants have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of their personal information, subject to applicable law, and may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa regarding the processing of their personal information.
5.8 Certain service providers engaged for purposes of administering the Promotion may process personal information
outside of South Africa, in accordance with applicable data protection laws and appropriate safeguards.
5.9 By participating in this promotion, participants consent to the sharing of their personal information with METRO FM, Chickenland Proprietary Limited, Ultimate Media and their authorized agents for the sole purpose of facilitating prize fulfilment. This processing of personal information is conducted in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
5.10 As far as the law allows, each Participant agrees and gives the Promoter permission to collect, get, receive, record, organise, collate, store, update, use and share all his/her personal information for all purposes relating to the Competition.
5.11 A Participant may ask the Promoter at any time before the Closing Date to correct or confirm any personal information if it is wrong or out of date.
5.12 As a condition of taking part in the competition, you agree to provide to Nando’s your personal information, which (without limitation) may include your name, surname, identity number, and contact details.
5.13 Your personal information will be used to enter you in this competition, to manage the competition, to select a winner, to contact the winner(s), for market research and statistical purposes, and for Nando’s and its affiliates’ marketing purposes.
5.14 If we store your personal information in a country that does not have adequate data privacy laws, we will take the necessary steps to ensure that your personal information is adequately protected in that jurisdiction.
5.15 Without limiting the foregoing, your personal information will be processed in accordance with the terms of the Nando’s Privacy Policy (accessible on the Nando’s website at https://www.nandos.co.za/), the terms of which are incorporated herein by reference.
5.16 Marketing Should the Participant Opt-In for further marketing communications, then the following applies: 5.17 consent is separate and optional.
5.18 By entering this competition, you may choose to receive marketing communications from Ultimate Media.
5.19 If you opt in, your personal information will be used to send you promotional material, special offers, and updates via email, SMS, or other electronic communication.
5.20 The Participant agrees that any photographs or videos taken of them in relation to this Competition become the property of the Promoter to use in any marketing campaigns as the Promoter deems fit. The Participant shall have no claim for any compensation for use of the photograph. Such use shall be limited to promotional and publicity purposes related to the Promotion.
5.21 You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe instructions via the platform that you used to subscribe via email, WhatsApp & SMS.
6. Warranties and Indemnities
6.1 This competition is open to all residents of the Republic of South Africa and Nando’s customers who are in possession of a valid identity document, except any person who is:
- a director, member, partner, spouse, life partner, immediate family member, employee or agent of, or consultant to Nando’s or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by, Nando’s; or
- a director, member, partner, spouse, life partner, immediate family member, employee or agent of, or consultant to the supplier of goods or services in connection with the competition.
- anyone who, within a period of [183 (One Hundred and Eighty Three) days preceding this competition, has won any competition organised, promoted, or conducted by Nando’s, or who resides at the same address as such a winner, or who uses the same telephone number to enter this competition.
6.2 The Promoter, its employees, officers, directors, agents and associates and the Participating Stores, their employees, officers, directors, agents and associates (the “Indemnified Parties’’) shall not be liable for and the Participants hereby indemnify and hold the Indemnified Parties harmless from any claim, liability, cost, expense or penalty suffered or incurred by any person as a result of participating in the Promotion. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude or limit liability to the extent that such liability cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.
6.3 All products given as part of the Prizes are subject to all applicable warranties, guarantees and instructions of use accompanying such products.
7. MISCELLANEOUS
7.1 Nando’s reserves the right to vary, suspend, postpone or terminate the competition and any prizes, or any aspect thereof, for any reasons whatsoever and without notice. In such event, you hereby waive any rights or expectations which you may have against Nando’s and acknowledge that you will not have any recourse or claim of any nature against Nando’s.
7.2 Nando’s may require the winner to complete and submit certain information to enable us to ensure compliance with these terms and conditions, and the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Should the winner refuse or be unable to comply with this rule for any reason, such winner will be deemed to have rejected the prize. Nando’s may request the winner and/or the person accompanying them to be identified and photographed with the intention that the photographs be published in printed media, or to appear on radio and television, when accepting their prize.
7.3 The participant and/or the person accompanying them will be given the opportunity to decline to the publication of their images and to participate in the Nando’s marketing material in so far as it relates to the competition.
7.4 All entrants indemnify Nando’s, its advertising agencies, advisers, suppliers, and nominated agents against any and all claims, damages or losses resulting from their participation in this Competition.
7.5 Nando’s assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of entries. Nando’s is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Nando’s on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in this competition or downloading any materials in this competition.

7.7 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa and any disputes arising from or in connection with the Promotion shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
